I thought I'd remember past glories and give you info on my running history.
Running for U.Mass (only Amherst in those days), I was second man on two Yankee Conference X-Country Championship teams and one New England Championship team. Individual highlights follow:
Fourth U.S. Army Champion - Six Mile (entire southwest U.S.)
U.S. Army All-star Track Team, Europe (1500-10,000 meters)
CISM alternate U.S. Armed Forces X-Ctry team (2nd all Europe)

2nd Yankee Conference X-Ctry Championship (beaten by my teammate)
5th NE Intercollegiate AA X-Ctry (there were no divisions)

2nd NEAAU 30K Championship (1965 and 66 by teammate)
2nd NEAAU 25K Championship (1967 by teammate)

28th Boston Marathon (1966)
34th Boston Marathon (1965)

Winner Florida Relays Masters Mile (Gainesville-1978)
Winner Florida AAU Masters (Sarasota-1978):
- 1/2 Mile
- 1 Mile
- 3 Mile
- 6 Mile
- X-Country

Winner Daytona Beach Easter Run 4 Mile (Masters division)
Alas, you're only as good as your last race, and bad knees and other age related injuries have waylaid my desire to be the next Johnny Kelly (who I ran against many times).  In 1999 I attended (as a spectator) the World Veterans Games in Gateshead England.  I sat with a ton of other old runners (from around the world) and watched 800 meter preliminaries for age 60-65 for an entire wonderful afternoon. The winner of the finals ran a 2:12.  Enough!
