Everybody has a first story about getting into the entertainment industry. Mine starts with the time when my younger brother and I decided to play as a 2-man band for night clubs.
We had an audition at one particular club, our very first. It was the stereotype, playing to an empty club with only the owner for an audience. Just like in the movies.
We did our schtick.
The club owner was impressed. “You boys got the job. What name do I put on the marquee outside?”
Uh, well, we didn’t have a name for ourselves, so I said:
“The Chighisola Brothers”
The owner (I’m not making this up) fell down laughing, just like in the movies. When he finally got up, he gasped
“I can’t put that out there.
They’ll think I’ve hired a trapeze act!”
So we took our mother’s name. We became the successful “Stevens Brothers.”
